SPOKEN WORD:
“We haven’t been treated as queens since we was pulled off the ships, raped of our dreams and ambitions from beatings and whips. while hoping that loose lips would have sunk the ships that my great grandmother’s, great grandmother’s, mother was riding on.
S-H-E-M-A Gurls welcome SPOKEN WORD, lyricist, Songwriter, and Poet, Spoken Word is not an amateur when it comes to Hip Hop music. She’s entering the industry with musical compositions that can only be defined and understood by the real Hip Hop culture. Many say that her lyrics is none other than spoken word mixed with hot tracks that leave heads bopping as they anticipate the sounds of the next song. Her beats are so New York City streets that those around her can’t help but listen because it is a definite reminder of what Hip Hop should be. Spoken Word has been performing since the age of 12. All the way from the school’s loud speaker to overcrowded venues that wait in expectancy for real Hip Hop music.
Her powerful words will most definitely move you…DON’T MISS THIS SHOW!!! 8pm pst, 11pm est. Right Here

The Creative Corner
Being creative is sometimes a challenge. To some it comes natural, while others must work a little at it. When an idea comes to you, the first thing you must DO is:
~ DO identified your creative idea
~ DO think long and hard about what your financial goals are.
~ DO think about the financial needs for your project.
~ DO ask yourself why do you want to create this particular product.
~ DO know the purpose and goal for the use of your project.
~ DO know if it’s really something you want to start to completion.
It is very important to visualize yourself a success through your creativity. Set goals and track your success. Also, be the biggest fan of what it is you are creating. Speak highly of it and of yourself. Brand yourself and the concept of your idea and always understand that if you build it, they will come. Keep that attitude as you move towards your journey and NEVER underestimate the power of YOUR creativity.
These are some more must DO’s:
~ DO stay away from negatve people during the crucial beginnings!
~ DO Research and plan before spending unneccessary money!
~ DO surround yourself with career oriented people that will encourage you when needed!
As an example of a very creative person, we have our very own S-H-E-M-A Gurl “Ruby Bratton” to share her success of taking a chance to create something ware, unique and beautiful. VOICE BOX:
~ Do you have something unique to create?
~ Have you already created something, if so what?
~ What is the most rememorable process of your journey?

The SHERO Within…
Posted by SHEMA Gurls on
July 9, 2009

Have you ever been forced to reckon with the the hero within the woman. We call this a SHERO. A shero to us are women that have faced horrifying, life threatening and life changing situations, yet soldier on despite of them. One of our most adored S-H-E-M-A Gurls member “Diana” once called US her sheros. This statement has never been taken lightly, because to be a hero of any fashion or form, you would have had to made a difference in the lives of others or your own.
This blog is dedicated to women that have OVERCOME and while overcoming, are still helping others. It is also a tool to teach women how to protect themselves while implementing the confidence and skills to do so. This blog is also a reminder that sisterhood is key to achieving goals. With sisterhood we understand that working together not only builds self character, but it also builds a stronger SHERO in YOU.
We have recently had the honor of meeting a woman that has fit this profile to a “T”….
Elsie Allen, the founder of “Sisters SOS” (sisters supernaturally overcoming situations). Her mission is to provide women with information, tools and training essential for a safe and secure life. The vision of Sister’s S.O.S is to prepare women today and future generations of women with a safety plan of action that will help them avoid danger if possible, defend themselves if necessary and most importantly, know how to survive unsafe situations.

Sisters SOS want to always recognize the women who have made a difference in your lives by sharing these stories of encouragement with others.
Please visit her site and won’t you come join us as we speak with Elsie Allen on Friday July 17th @ 8 p.m. PST 10 p.m CST 11 p.m. EST. This will be our first interview back from break, so we are excited to hit the radio waves once again. She will be specifically speaking on ways women can protect themselves while having information, skill and knowledge to perfect the shero within all of us.
~ What have you overcome?
~ Who is your Shero?
~ Have you become a shero to someone in your life?
~ How can you help strengthen someone facing a life changing situation?
Caring is sharing and we look forward to hearing from you all,
~ Your SHEMA Team ~
